Description
The 2003 Marchesi di Barolo Sarmassa is a highly regarded, full-bodied, and elegant Barolo, showcasing the intensity of a hot vintage without excessive “cooked” notes. The wine is a deeply colored, garnet red wine reflecting the hot, intense 2003 vintage.
Nose: Intense aromas of red fruit jam, rose petals, vanilla, tobacco, and characteristic hints of tar.
Taste: Full-bodied and structured, with noticeable, “in evidence” tannins that have softened over time.
Pairing: Excellent with rich Piedmontese dishes, such as truffle tajarin, roasted meats, game, or mature cheeses. Serving Temp: 16–18°C (60–64°F).
Recommend decanting for at least one hour to allow the bouquet to fully open.
