Description
Ferdinando Principiano Barolo Ravera di Monforte is a traditionally crafted, powerful, and savory wine from a top Monforte d’Alba cru. Known for high acidity and firm, yet polished tannins, it features notes of black cherry, lavender, liquorice, and earthy minerals, often showing a slightly balsamic tone. It is a structured wine with long aging potential (2020–2045).
Nose: Intense, featuring red/black fruit (cherry, plum), dried flowers, violet, licorice, and balsamic, earthy notes.
Taste: Powerful and complex, with a savory, mineral-driven profile and a “slight edge of sweetness”. It typically displays a “razor-edged”, yet refined tannin structure.
Pairing: Best paired with rich, fatty foods to balance its structure. Ideal pairings include braised beef, roasted lamb, truffle risotto, game, or aged cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano.
It is highly recommended to decant this wine for a few hours if drinking young (under 5–7 years from release).
